The Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex represent the largest construction contract and development site ever undertaken in the Southern Hemisphere at the time of delivery. Constructed in Melbourne’s premier Southbank location, the development transformed a 510,000 m² site into a world-class destination that continues to anchor the city’s entertainment and tourism economy.
The scale of the project was unprecedented, comprising 1,602 hotel rooms, expansive gaming areas, nightclubs, restaurants, exclusive luxury retail outlets, a grand ballroom, and signature water features. The development demanded meticulous planning, complex staging, and coordination of multidisciplinary consultants and Tier 1 contractors to achieve its ambitious program.
The project achieved Practical Completion in 1997 and remains the largest integrated entertainment complex in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the largest of its kind globally. Its delivery stands as a benchmark in mega-project management, engineering innovation, and high-profile stakeholder collaboration.
