In 2010, the existing high-rise building entered a major redevelopment program. The scope of the work included the full deconstruction of the building’s façade, services infrastructure, and internal fit-out, followed by a comprehensive upgrade to deliver a modern and compliant facility.
The Department of Justice, as the client, appointed specialist design consultants and a Tier 1 head contractor to manage and deliver the redevelopment. The work was undertaken in a live, high-profile environment with stringent compliance requirements, necessitating robust governance, safety, and risk management frameworks.
The redevelopment introduced state-of-the-art mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, a modern façade system, and contemporary internal fitouts designed to optimise building performance and extend the asset’s lifecycle. Through effective collaboration between stakeholders, consultants, and the contractor, the project was delivered to program and budget, achieving Practical Completion in 2012.
